WOMAN
IN AMERICA
•
American
women have made great strides in achieving political equality. They have been
working hard to achieve social and economic equality as well. They believe that
women can do just as well as men. They also expect to get the same respect and
social rights as men. They also want to get the same pay as their male counter
part.
•
The
American woman makes the most of her free time. She helps with the political
campaigns, sits on committees, she goes to classes of all kinds, from
environmental studies to karate, takes part in sports, and takes an interest in
children's activities and education.

WOMAN
IN AMERICA

The
role women played in the home and in business and economic life in America is
important. Yet, it's still a man's world. In many business and school systems
women with the same qualifications as men get less pay than men doing the same
job. This is possible because often a woman is a second wage earner in her home
and is willing to accept less pay. Also if a man and a woman apply for the same
job in a field where men dominate, in a majority of cases it is the man rather
than the woman who is hired. While women hold important positions 'in business,
industry and education, men are often than not hold the managerial and
supervisory posts. Women are often heard to say, "I don't want to work
under another woman. I'd rather take orders from a man"
•
The
same attitude carries- over into the home she likes to feel that she is under
the protection of a man and has the judgment to back her up. There are
exceptions of course, but it in generally true of American life that the man is
the head of the family. When a really serious decision is to be made, the
mother says, "We'll ask your father" or "I'll see what my
husband thinks".

WOMEN'S
LIBERATION
There are many aspects of the
women's liberation movement. Some women agree with all the goals of women's
liberation. They want full equality with men in every aspect of life. In
marriage, they want husbands and wives to share all of the work and
responsibilities of a home and family. In work, they want women and men to have
the same jobs and the same chance to succeed. They want women to be paid just
as much as men are for the same work. They want the same pay if they hold the
same job as a man. At home, they don't expect their husbands to help them with
cleaning, cooking and other house-hold jobs. The women's liberation movement is
also concerned with attitudes and b woman's identity is what she thinks of
herself as a person, thinks she is, and what she thinks she can do. The women's
li movement want to help those women, who think they cannot do important, to
improve their view of themselves.

WOMEN'S
LIBERATION
•
Many
women who are concerned with the women's liberation t jobs, have raised their
children and have done many other a contribute to their communities.
•
One
other thing the movement is concerned with is the question of women's role. The
questions are as follows:
1. Should a woman work outside
there home?
2. Should she work when she is
married and has children?
3. Should she stay home and look
after her husband and children?
4. What would the society think
of her if she enters a profession and has a career?
5. What would the society think
if she stays at home and family?
•
These
questions do not just have one right answer. Every we decide her own role; and
what she wants to do.
•
If
a woman decides to work outside the home, there questions which are raised such
as:
Can she get any job she is
capable of and qualified for?
Are some jobs closed to her
because she is a woman?
When doing the same job as her
men fellow workers, Will the same payment?
•
WOMEN'S
LIBERATION
•
These
questions are important because the government has passed laws to help women
get any job for which they are qualified and to help them get the same pay as a
man for doing the same work. The f has also passed a law to encourage
businesses that get money government to be fair to women and minority groups.
This law the Affirmative Action Law: It says that if a company is not fair to
women and minority groups the government will not do business with that
company. This encourages the business to provide equal opportunity women.
•
Many
people agree with the goals of the women's liberation movement, because they
feel that women should be considered equal to men in every way. They say that a
woman must decide to stay home and raise a family or to go out and work or to
have a job outside and raise a family.
•
WOMEN'S
LIBERATION
•
Other
people do not agree with the women's liberation They think that women should not
have the same jobs as men. They say that women should stay at home and raise a
family. Many husbands do not want their wives to work outside the home.
•
People
who agree with this women's liberation do not feel that it is bad for a woman
to remain at home if she wants to. They feel that work in the home is important
and should be respected. They also want to be sure that a woman stays at home,
because she wants to and not because she cannot get a job outside the home.
•
The
women's liberation movement is trying to give women a chance to show what they
can do. Perhaps the woman can find a cure for a serious disease, will solve the
energy crisis. Perhaps men and women together will do things better than men
alone.
